PURE IMAGINATION - ROALD DAHL

PURE IMAGINATION - ROALD DAHL

Come with me and you’ll be

In a world of pure imagination

Take a look and you’ll see

Into your imagination

We’ll begin with a spin

Trav’ling in the world of my creation

What we’ll see will defy

Explanation

{Refrain}

If you want to view paradise

Simply look around and view it

Anything you want to, do it

Want to change the world, there’s nothing to it

There is no life I know

To compare with pure imagination

Living there, you’ll be free

If you truly wish to be

{Refrain}

There is no life I know

To compare with pure imagination

Living there, you’ll be free

If you truly wish to be

Theme:

Children are encouraged to dream in the `world of pure imagination’ that Roald Dahl mentioned in the poem. Child are asked to imagine things out of their mind to ensure they have new sort of idea whether it is flying without wings, or being in the space without spacesuit.

Stanza Analysis

Come with me and you’ll be

In a world of pure imagination

Take a look and you’ll see

Into your imagination

The poet asked the reader to come with him to be with him in a world of imagination. The poet is also asked the reader to take a look, by this, the poet asked reader to imagine things in their thought and imagine things that are not possible in the real world. That’s what imagine does.

We’ll begin with a spin

Trav’ling in the world of my creation

What we’ll see will defy

Explanation

The poet said that before we start imagine things, we need to start it with spin around our body, as people knew, children tend to follow what they read because they are children hahaha… The poet said that after spinning around, we will enter or we will be at the world of our creation, and things in there are against real world. That’s why the poet said ‘what we will see will defy explanation’. We can’t explain our imagination, only we knew what are we imagined for.

If you want to view paradise

Simply look around and view it

Anything you want to, do it

Want to change the world, there’s nothing to it

The poet said that if we want to view paradise, we can simply imagine it in our mind, by this I think we can imagine paradise because people said that paradise is the most beautiful things that god created. In our mind, we can do anything we want anytime, anywhere.

There is no life I know

To compare with pure imagination

Living there, you’ll be free

If you truly wish to be

The poet said there is no other things in his life that can be compared with his own imagination. In our imagination, we can live the life we want. If you really put the effort to imagine it.

Message That The Poet Wants To Deliver:

The poet wanted kids to imagine things that are not possible, to make it possible. The poet really wanted to show that if we are really putting the effort towards things we do, everything is possible. For me, I have imagine that I will be a teacher and this helped me to pursuit my ambition, to became a teacher in the future.

Impact To The Reader:

  • Reader of this poem will be imagining things that aren’t possible in the real world.
  • Cultivate desire to imagine.
  • The reader will develop their mind to think outside the box.
